Caleb was walking around the land one day looking at his cattle checking to see which ones were ready to go off to the butchers and which were ready to calf. "Tzuna, what do you think? I'm glad that I bought this land." he said to the wolf walking at his side. "I'm glad that your enjoying yourself Caleb, and I do think that it was smart that you investted in this land, it'll benefit us later." she replied. She loped away to go check on a hefer that had fallen behind. Caleb looked around him in wonder and awe at what he had purchased. "Mica will like it here." he thought. The only thing that would make it better is that if Jen were here, but he knew that it was impossible for her to be here, she had died while they were in Miami.

Mica looked out the window as the plane began its descent at DFW. She felt her anticipation growing as she was getting nearer to Caleb. It had been almost a year since she had seen him. In fact, he left shortly after Jen’s funeral. Mica had cried when he left but knew she had to let him go. Her heart ached for him but there was nothing she could do. Her life had been lonely without him. She had thrown herself into her work, tracking their enemies and neutralizing them without prejudice. She walked down the ramp and proceeded to the shuttle to pick up her rental car. She didn’t trust the airlines to handle her baggage so she had shipped her things ahead of time. They should be reaching Caleb’s today or tomorrow.
She got the keys to the small, blue corvette and tossed her carry on bag into the trunk. She climbed behind the wheel and put the top down and turned the radio up. She pulled out of the lot onto 35E heading to Caleb’s ranch. She felt the breeze in her hair as she sped down the interstate. She laughed because even though she was speeding, the Dallas drivers were passing her as if she was walking. She turned out into the country making her way to Caleb’s drive. After about 45 minutes she turned down the lane to the house. She stopped fast as she felt a familiar presence close. She stood up in the car looking over the windshield when she saw him. Her smile spread wide across her lips as her eyes found him. “CALEB!” she squeeled at the top of her lungs as she jumped from the car, over the barbed wire fence and ran to him.

"MICA?! I wasn't expecting you for another few hours. I was gonna have dinner prepared and everything." he said. He ran to meet his sister halfway and marveled at her ability to jump over the six foot barbed wire fence. "You never cease to amaze me Sis." he said as he hugged her.

Mica had jumped into Caleb’s embrace, her arms and legs wrapped around him. She hugged him tightly then lowered her legs back to the pasture. She smiled as she looked into his eyes. “I made good time and I took an earlier flight. I couldn’t wait to see you.” She kissed him on the cheek then pulled back to look into his eyes. Her hand cupped the side of his face, moving softly to the scruff on his chin. “You need to trim this up some.” She said smiling wide. “How are you? I’ve been worried about you. You just left then the others left. Everything just kind of fell apart without you. I’ve been alone for months.”

"Why didn't you tell me? I would've came back or flown you out here. I didn't know everyone left. Why'd they do that?" he asked. He didn't think he was that important to anyone but Mica, but he needed to be alone for a few months.

Mica reached a hand out to touch his cheek. "I didn't want you to worry. You needed time." She smiled softly. "Everyone struck out with their own plans. Kyra and I have continued to hunt our known enemies. I wanted to tell you but..." she turned her head to look down as she brushed her foot over the ground. "Your the only one I could ever count on Caleb." She gave him a sidelong glance as she smiled softly then turned her gaze into the pasture. She saw Kyra running to greet Tzuna.

"That still doesn't make it any better that you were alone for so long. That was foolish." he scolded. He reached out and pulled her close to him and kissed her cheek. "I've missed you so much." he said with tears glistening in his eyes.

"I know but I'm a big girl. I've learned a lot in the last couple of months. No man in my life so no distractions. Plenty of time to learn and hunt." She spoke with a soft laugh in her voice but her eyes held tears within them as she held him close. "I'm here now." she told him softly. "And I have missed you too."

"I can't believe that Doug left you alone." he said. He would have to talk to them later about this, Mica couldn't be left alone, and Doug of all people knew that.

Mica looked away from him. "Doug and I aren't together. There was a pro...." her words trailed off as she pulled away from him and moved to look out over the spread that was now his. "Caleb this place is beautiful. Do you have horses?"

"You know that I do. Wanna go for a ride?" he asked. He knew that Mica was going to say that her and Doug had problems, but he would hear about that later. Now his only option was to have fun with Mica.

Mica looked at him as the smile came over her face. "I would love to go for a ride. It's been forever since I've been on a horse." She had hoped he would let her love life go. She was done with men and didn't want to open up old wounds.

Caleb could sense that Doug was a sensative subject, so he went and to the barn and grabbed a white stallion for himself and a chesnut mare for Mica. "These are the best ones. I raised Lightning and Co-Co since they were foals." he said. "Do you want a saddle or bareback? They ride well either way."

Mica smiled at him. She walked to Co-Co and patted her neck softly. "Bareback and they are magnificent Caleb."

"Thank you. I took great care in raising them. What's better is that they're not afraid of Tzuna or Kyra. I used my cloning ability to make a copy of Kyra so they won't freak out when you got here." he said.
