Mica laughed heartily. “Maybe that is what draws me to him. He is totally different from anyone I have ever known.” Her voice became serious as she took a deep breath. “Caleb, there’s something I need to tell you.” Mica then recounted how she and Doug had gone off to train and gain control of her power. She told him how they tracked the shadow warriors and she had taken the place of one and found herself before the Dark Lord. “Caleb, he knows what is inside of me. He thinks through it he can sway me to his side. If Doug hadn’t spirited me away when the Dark Lord put me to sleep…I don’t know what would have happened.” Mica then told him how Doug had used a strange power to send her unconscious body to a place of safety and how he had squared off with the Dark Lord. She told him how she had felt Doug’s rage and fear for her and she had used her powers to find him, then how they fled from the Dark Lord. “I think love is the key to controlling the darkness battling within me.”

Mica smiled, nodding slowly. “I understand that now.” She pushed the plate away from her, unable to eat. She watched Caleb as he devoured his meal. “Are you feeling better?” she asked him with concern hanging on her words.

“Good,” Mica said as she watched him. “I was worried about you. It wasn’t easy finding the fang that had lodged in your side. It continued to release the poison within you for a time but I think I was able to remove it all.” Mica turned her gaze back to the fire. Something the dark lord had told Doug held within her mind as if she had been present when it was spoken. ‘Even now I grow stronger within her.’ Mica shook her head not understanding what he could possibly have meant. His blood flowed within Ariadne though she was not sure how she knew this and she assumed that was what he had spoken of. Mica had taken in Ariadne’s blood through her washing of Adrian’s blood stone when she freed him. It was that blood that was unlocking the darkness within her that she now tried to control. Mica pushed the thought to the back of her mind though she couldn’t help but feel she was missing something. Something the dark lord seemed to know but they were not yet aware of.

Doug came back to the cave after washing vigorously to see Mica staring at the fire. He went over and sat beside her as he put his arm on her shoulder holding her close to him. "Well well, I see you are awake finally." Doug said amusingly as he talked to caleb. "The meal smells delicious."

Mica smiled kissing Doug softly on the cheek as she handed him a plate as well. She pushed hers farther away as she rose and got them both a drink. She returned to sit, handing them another cup of water as she picked up a piece of bread and nibbled on it slowly.

Doug continued to eat as Caleb spoke. "Well, I guess you could say that." Doug said with a smile on his face. "Nothing I couldn't handle."

No big, Mica and I wanted to help speed up her training so we decided to go after some shadows. We just happened to come across the Dark Lord and got in a scuffle, but it wasn't anything we couldn't get ourselves out of.

Mica smiled, lowering her face. Doug had glossed over quite a bit of what had happened with the Dark Lord and the shadow warriors. He also left out, thankfully, their night of passion while Caleb lay unconscious in the cave. “Really Caleb, you didn’t miss much.” She told him looking from beneath her hair as it fell down in front of her face hiding her expression from him. Mica rose and excused herself from the two. “Doug you can finish mine if you want. I’m not hungry.” She walked out from the cave and sat on the ground. Night was falling and all she wanted was to watch the sunset and escape the feelings within her for a while. The encounter with the Dark Lord had her still shaken. He could have killed her but didn’t. He had the chance yet hadn’t acted on it. Something more was at play here and she wasn’t going to rest until she found out what it was. She made up her mind then that she would seek out the Dark Lord.

Doug watched Mica as she walked from the cave. Something was wrong, something didn't feel right with her, but he didn't press it. He decided to let her have some time to herself as he scourged down the food that she didn't eat. "Caleb, we need to watch her. Something is a matter." Doug said as he looked at him.
